No hate, just discontent with Congress

Like the way water always flows downhill, it's easy to follow the path of least resistance. With so much frustration and anger at large, maybe it seems natural to feed the flames of hate and discontent. It's easy to make sure, like they say, that government doesn't work by just saying no to everything, thus proving that you are right (no pun intended). But you don't hear the tea party complaining much about the social security program, one of the most popular and useful government programs ever, even though it is socialistic. Moderate programs of balanced compassion and intelligence require a more thoughtful approach than simple minded hate and discontent. "Yes, we can" works better in the long than "Just say no" but it isn't so easy.

My response:
Who mentioned Hate? I don't hate members of Congress, I just see too much waste and corruption and too many dysfunctional government bureaucracies. As a matter of fact, I do believe in "Yes, we can"! Yes, we can and we must reboot congress and send a message to the politicians that we want real reform. In my humble opinion, the path of lease resistance is to continue to allow members of Congress to avoid proper oversight of these dysfunctional bureaucracies. And, yes that includes Social Security which congress is driving toward bankruptcy.
According to Gallup, "more than two-thirds of Americans (69%) continue to disapprove of the job Congress is doing, while 25% approve…"

Stimulus money for wind power should generate green jobs for the USA.

Despite all the talk of green jobs, the overwhelming majority of stimulus money spent on wind power has gone to foreign companies, according to a new report by the Investigative Reporting Workshop at the American University's School of Communication in Washington, D.C.

I had the opportunity to talk on Mark Davis's show this morning. Basically, I stated that I suspect that many Texas taxpayers don't want to spend the estimated $30 million dollars for a special election and lose Hutchison's seniority in the Senate. Please encourage Senator Hutchison to fulfill her term.

The stimulus package: Without a doubt, some of these programs created important jobs. However, I have no doubt that some of these programs created worthless jobs paid for with our tax dollars. Re-boot Congress!!!

• $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Department of Energy defunded last year because it said the project was inefficient.
• A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film.
• $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program.
• $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship).
• $448 million for constructing the Department of Homeland Security headquarters.
• $248 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters.
• $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees.
• $400 million for the Centers for Disease Control to screen and prevent STD's.
• $1.4 billion for rural waste disposal programs.
• $125 million for the Washington sewer system.
• $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities.
• $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion.
• $75 million for "smoking cessation activities."
• $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges.
• $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI.
• $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction.

WOW! I've only been a political activist for a very short time, and yet, my hand made sign has become (kinda, sorta, almost, briefly) famous. Channel 4 zoomed in on MY non-partisan sign and used the image for the evening news. My friend, neighbor, and fellow activist, JK, used his iPhone to take a picture of the News broadcast.

I think our Congress needs a "reboot". (see below)

In a separate Rasmussen Reports poll last week, the firm found a majority of likely voters thought it would be better that most incumbents not return to Congress for another term.

Rasmussen asked, “Generally speaking, would it better for the country if most incumbents in Congress were reelected this November or if most of them were defeated?”

Sixty-three percent said it would be better that most incumbents be defeated, while just 19 percent said it would be better if most incumbents stayed in office.

IMO - AT&T: You should be grateful for Time Warner. They keep you off the very bottom of the list when it comes to customer service. We were told that AT&T technicians would come to fix our issues between 4pm and 9pm last night. They never showed up and they didn't even call. The AT&T V.P. of Sales Prevention and Customer Abuse must be very pleased.
